Certified Firefighter Test
The Certified Firefighter Test (CFT) is FPSI’s specialized exam for agencies that require applicants to hold Firefighter I certification or have completed a recognized fire academy. Unlike general ability tests designed for non-certified candidates, the CFT ensures applicants are evaluated on the job-specific knowledge expected of certified firefighters.
This 100-item test draws from the IFSTA Essentials (6th Edition), Brady EMS (11th Edition), and critical human relations skills, providing agencies with a well-rounded measure of fire service readiness. To further enhance the process, agencies may also add FPSI’s short-form Human Relations component, creating a blended assessment that combines technical job knowledge with the interpersonal skills necessary for working effectively with colleagues and serving the community.
